SOTC is Northeast Ohio’s premier summer internship program, connecting leading employers like you with high-achieving students from 11 prestigious universities. We provide a diversely talented group of motivated students eager to contribute as interns, while you gain access to future workforce leaders.:
We work with institutions in Ohio and beyond, giving you access to talent in many career fields. We have formal partnerships with: Allegheny, Case, Mandel Honors College at Cleveland State, Colgate, Cornell, Dennison, Miami of Ohio, Oberlin, Ohio Wesleyan, Smith and University of Chicago.
Housing is arranged by SOTC and is FREE for all students. Participants live in apartment-like dorms with bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, common area and more just minutes from downtown, uptown and many activities. Free housing removes relocation barriers for many students who participate in our program.
Our team provides comprehensive recruiting and onboarding support for employers. We help create effective job postings, offer advice on structuring successful internships and help during the internship as needed. We host an employer orientation to set employers and students up for success.
In addition to their jobs, interns are involved in more than 40 events and activities during the summer. Students are introduced to the wonderful things Greater Cleveland has to offer and participate in programs to help them work on career preparation and job skills. Employers are invited to participate in some activities.
“The interns we found with the SOTC program accomplished some amazing work this summer, which is something we have come to expect through our experience with the program.”

No. Simply posting the internship allows you to receive applications from students who attend SOTC’s partner schools. If you do not find a student who meets your criteria, you are under no obligation to hire one. We also trust that you will not use our site to identify candidates and then hire them outside of SOTC. Please contact us if you are not seeing a large enough pool of candidates so we can help.
Generally, no. Students are expected to be available for work during the entire internship. We appreciate, however, that it may be necessary to miss a day’s work for a special event such as a family wedding. Students must make appropriate arrangements with their employer if they will miss work, as well as clear absence from the dorm with SOTC staff if during a weekday or on the date of a weekend mandatory event. Please let students know what schedule to expect around the 4th of July holiday.
The application deadline is in May, or when all positions are filled.
Employers will interview and hire interns according to their schedules and positions will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis. preference is given to early applicants and commitments. Check the website often for new opportunities. SOTC will send employer updates in April and May indicating remaining spots per school.
Undergraduate students of the participating schools who are in good standing and have at least completed their freshman year at the start of the summer program are eligible to participate. Graduating seniors are also eligible.
Only students from SOTC partner schools may fully participate in the benefits of the program (housing, all events/activities, etc.). However we do have the Pick 10 Program! This program allows non-SOTC interns working for employer partners to select up to 10 applicable SOTC events/activities at a cost of $300 (payable by student or employer).
